Terms of Use
Simple rules for using OpenChemFacts
Terms of Use
By using the website, the data or the API, you agree to these terms.
1. What OpenChemFacts is
OpenChemFacts is a free open-data platform on ecotoxicity and chemicals: datasets, documentation and an API, mainly for research, education and information. It is provided as is and as available, and may change, be interrupted or be discontinued.
2. Using the data
We work to keep the data reliable, but it may contain errors and is not regulatory or professional advice. Please check it against your own needs and obligations before relying on it.
To the extent the law allows, Lumens, the publisher of OpenChemFacts, is not liable for damages arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the website, the data or the API. This does not limit any liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.
3. API
The API is open for reasonable use. It comes without a service-level agreement, may change without notice, and excessive use may be limited or blocked to keep the service stable.
4. Licence
The data is published under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). See the licence page for what you can do with it and what to credit.
5. Feedback and contributions
If you send us feedback or a contribution, you confirm that you are entitled to share it and allow us to use it in the project, free of charge.
6. Paid services
OpenChemFacts is published by Lumens (see Legal Information), which also provides paid B2B services under a separate written agreement. Browsing this site does not create one.
7. Personal data
How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
8. Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page. They are governed by French law, and disputes fall under the competent French courts, without affecting any mandatory right you have as a consumer. Questions: alban@openchemfacts.com.
